No. 23 Gymnastics Travels to Ann Arbor Friday

Kent State's gymnastics team travels to Ann Arbor, Mich. Friday, February 28 to take part in a tri-meet with Michigan and Brigham Young, slated for 7 p.m.

No. 23 Kent State … 8-1, 5-0 MAC
Kent State enters the tri-meet Friday after picking up their eighth win, and fifth straight on Friday, February 21 at Ball State, 195.700-193.950.
For the second straight week, the Golden Flashes are led by MAC Gymnast of the week (Feb. 25), Marie Case, as she was the only all-around competitor in Muncie, Ind. and finished with a score of 39.400. Case landed a 9.800 on the bars for first place, a 9.850 on the balance beam for first, she tied for first on the floor exercise with a 9.900 while placing second on the vault, 9.850.
Chelsea Drooger took first at Ball State on the vault with her career-high, 9.875 as Kent State finished the top four sweep - Drooger in first, Case in second, Amiah Mims took third (9.825) and Kelsey Lawless came in fourth (9.800).
The team set season-highs on the vault, 49.100 and on the floor exercise with a 49.175.
No. 8 Michigan … 10-2
The Wolverines enter after taking third place at the Perfect 10 Challenge in Oklahoma City, Okla. on Friday, February 21. Michigan picked up their first two losses of the season to No. 2 Oklahoma (197.200-196.200) and to No.4 Alabama (197.100-196.200).Â
Brigham Young … 2-9
The Cougars come into Friday's match after falling to Southern Utah, twice, on Friday, February 21 195.500-195.375 in Prove, Utah and again on Monday, February 24 195.600-195.525 in Cedar City, Utah.

Michigan holds the 11-6 advantage over Kent State, having won the previous six meetings with the last on April 15, 2011 in Cleveland 196.700-195.000.
Brigham Young leads the all-time series record against the Golden Flashes, 2-0-1. The Cougars won both postseason matchups in 2004 and the latest one on April 6, 2013 - 194.475-193.500. Kent State and Brigham Young tied in the last multi-team event they competed against each other on January 21, 2011 – 194.775 a piece.

The Golden Flashes return home to host Bowling Green on Thursday, March 6 at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center in Kent. Kent State has already clinched a share of the regular season title, with a win over the Falcons on March 6, they will be outright regular season champions.
