Pair of Home Dates Highlight Spring Schedule for Kent State Volleyball

Kent, Ohio – Kent State volleyball coach Don Gromala announced the team's 2014 spring schedule on Friday (March 7). The Golden Flashes will compete on four days in April, including twice at the M.A.C. Center.

With spring practices beginning this past week, Gromala and his staff will have a month to prepare the Flashes for their first competition date.

The Flashes kick off spring play when they welcome Cleveland State to campus on Friday, April 4 for drills and scrimmaging.

The team will then travel to Duquesne and Michigan State to participate in tournaments on April 5 and April 12, respectively.

Kent State concludes its spring slate at home with the Golden Flashes Spring Tournament on April 19. Akron, Wright State, Ashland and IUP will be among the teams competing at the M.A.C. Center.

Five starters and 12 letterwinners return from this past season's team that went 12-18 overall and 6-10 in the Mid-American Conference to double both win totals from the previous season. The season was highlighted by a four-set victory over No. 18 Ohio that was the program's first ever victory over a ranked opponent. Kent State also qualified for the conference tournament and finished tied for third in the East Division after being picked to finish last in the preseason coaches poll.
