LYNCHBURG, Va. – Kent State (7-6) had enough chances to plate runs against Liberty (11-6) on Sunday (Mar. 9), but went just 1-for-13 at the plate with runners in scoring position, eventually falling 9-1 in the series finale.

The Golden Flashes had a chance at an early lead in the 2^nd with runners on second and third with two outs, but a strikeout ruined the threat. Liberty was able to jump on the board in the bottom of the inning with four runs then followed with two more in the third.

Kent State's lone tally came on a RBI double by T.J. Sutton in the 3^rd, but he could not be brought home. The team had a late chance at a rally in 9^th as they again put runners on second and third, this time with one out, but a strikeout and fly out ended the game.

Andy Ravel (1-1) struck out the leadoff batter in his first career start, but struggled the rest of the way for the loss. He went just two innings with five hits, five earned runs, four walks and two strikeouts. Eric Dorsch provided a bright spot on the mound for the Flashes. He threw the final inning allowing just one hit while striking out two.

Zarley Zalewski went 2-for-3 and Cody Koch 2-for-4 in the game, leading the way for Kent State offensively.

The Golden Flashes head to Charleston, S.C., next weekend (Mar. 14-16) to take part in the College of Charleston Tournament. They will face the host College of Charleston, Appalachian State and Michigan in the three-game series.
