Gerdeman to Join Kent State Volleyball in 2014

KENT, Ohio — Kent State volleyball head coach Don Gromala announced the addition of Amber Gerdeman (Leipsic, Ohio) for the 2014 season.
A 6'1" middle blocker, Gerdeman was a four-year letterwinner at Leipsic High School. Gerdeman shared Putnam County League Player of the Year honors as a junior and was named all-district and all-conference following her junior and senior seasons. She was selected to play in the District 8 all-star game this past Fall and earned Asics Midwest Power League All-Tournament Team honors last month. Gerdeman was a multi-sport prep athlete and also earned four varsity letters for basketball. A dedicated student in the classroom, she is on track to graduate in the top 10 of her class and is also vice president of her senior class.
Gerdeman is the fifth member of Kent State's freshman class. The Golden Flashes signed four student-athletes—Kelsey Bittinger (Strongsville, Ohio), Challen Geraghty (Louisville, Ky.), Brittney Jakscht (East Troy, Wis.) and Heather Younkin (Lorain, Ohio)—to National Letters of Intent back in November.
Kent State finished the 2013 season with a 12-18 record and loses just two players to graduation.
