AVON, Ohio – Brian Clark posted the best start of his career at the most opportune time, propelling the Golden Flashes to a 6-2 win over Bowling Green in the Flashes' Mid-American Conference Tournament opener Wednesday afternoon.

Clark went 8.1 innings with five hits and just one earned run while walking two and striking out seven. He sat the Falcons down in order with the help of his defense in the 3^rd, 6^th, 7^th and 8^th.

Kent State broke the game wide-open with a five-run 4^th inning. That inning marks the 3^rd consecutive year the Golden Flashes have posted a five-run inning in their first game of the MAC Tournament. The scoring got started with back-to-back leadoff singles by Troy Summers and Cody Koch. Zarley Zalewski then hit them home on a bases-clearing triple to put Kent State on the board. Jeff Revesz followed with a RBI single later on before Curtis Olvey singled and Zach Beckner picked up two RBI with a double.

They scored another in the 5^th on a RBI base hit by T.J. Sutton.

The Falcons plated a run each in the 5^th and 9^th. Both runners who scored had reached on the two walks given up by Clark.

With two on and one out for Bowling Green in the 9^th, Clark was removed and John Fasola was called on to close the door. Fasola ended the game with a strikeout.

Summers led the way offensively with two hits in four at-bats. Zalewski and Beckner both had a team-high two RBI.

Kent State will now face the winner of Ball State/Western Michigan at 8:00pm on Thursday night.
