Kent State seniors Corey Conners and Kyle Kmiecik have been selected to the 2014 Men's Golf Academic All-MAC Team as announced by the Mid-American Conference on Wednesday.
Conners, who was also an Academic All-MAC selection in 2012 and 2013, won three times in 2013-14, including finishing as the medalist at this year's MAC Championship. He was also the MAC's co-player of the year, an honor he shared with teammate Taylor Pendrith. Conners finished with a 72.9 scoring average in his senior year.
Kmiecik, who returns to the Academic All-MAC team for the second consecutive year, ranked No. 3 on the Golden Flashes with a 75.1 scoring average.
"This is a fitting end to their careers," said Kent State head coach Herb Page. "During their Kent State careers, they made three trips to the NCAA finals, and they had a hand in four MAC Championships. And by the way, their majors are not easy, actuarial mathematics for Corey Conners and finance for Kyle Kmiecik.
"Corey and Kyle came to Kent State for school first and for golf second. Both are fabulous young men and they always had their priorities straight. They were true student-athletes, and I couldn't be prouder of them. We couldn't have asked for two better young men to represent us. They both deserve this because they worked very hard and they really enjoyed school."
This year's Men's Golf Academic All-MAC team included seven selections with another 10 student-athletes earning honorable mention.
