BURLINGTON, Vt. β The Golden Flashes scored early and often to earn their first victory of the season in a 6-0 win over Siena in a neutral site game.
Sophomore Andrea Rinehart grabbed the first shutout of her young career in the match by stopping three Siena shots.
Missy Ramsey led the way offensively for Kent State, getting the scoring started three minutes in off an assist by Hannah Faulkner.Β Alison Harmatz also found the back of the net in the first half, scoring off a nice pass from Abbie Carrico.
The Golden Flashes tallied on to their 2-0 lead on the second halve with four more goals.Β Madison Thompson scored her first of the day three minutes into the second half, assisted by Ramsey.Β Shannon Martin put Kent State on the board again on an unassisted goal off a rebound ten minutes later.
Kent State made it back-to-back at that point as Thompson again scored off another Faulkner assist.Β Ramsey rounded out the scoring onslaught with a shot from Caroline Corthouts to close out the 6-0 defeat of the Saints.
On the defensive side, Rinehart's shutout was helped by a strong defensive effort that only allowed Siena to get three shots off in the match.Β Kent State finished with 20 shots on the day and earned eight corners while Siena had six.
The Golden Flashes return to action on Saturday when they face host Vermont in a 1:00pm match.
