
Kent State Falls to Toledo in Overtime

TOLEDO, Ohio- The Kent State women's soccer team fell 2-1 in overtime to the Toledo Rockets on Sunday afternoon at Scott Park. The loss drops the Golden Flashes to 10-6-2 and 6-4-0 in the Mid-American Conference, while the Rockets improved to 8-11-0 and 4-6-0.
Toledo tallied the game-winner in the 95th minute when Isa Echeverri scored on a penalty kick. It was her sixth of the season.Â
After a 0-0 first half that saw a 6-4 Kent State advantage in shots, Toledo was able to score first in the 67th minute when Echeverri got one past goalkeeper Ashleah McDonald.  It wasn't until the 77th minute when Kent State would tally the equalizer after junior Jenna Hellstrom passed the ball over to Donavan Capehart who put the ball into the back of the net.
Neither team scored the go-ahead goal in regulation, but it was Toledo who came up victorious in the 95th minute.Â
Toledo edged Kent State in shots, 11-10, and also led in corner kicks, 6-4. McDonald recorded five saves for the Flashes', while Toledo goalkeeper, Katie Wilson, earned two.Â
Capehart led the Kent State offense with two shots on goal, while junior Abbie Lawson had one.Â
Kent State will host Ohio University at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct.29 at Zoeller Field in its final game of the regular season.
