Cross Country Competes at the MAC Championships Saturday

Kent State's cross country teams head to Canton, Ohio for the Mid-American Conference Championships hosted this year by the University of Akron at the Canton GlenOak Community Park on Saturday, October 31st.

Last Time Out …
The Golden Flashes last ran on October 17th at the Princeton Invite in Princeton, New Jersey where the women's team finished in 15th and the men's in 16th.
Rachel Slingluff has led the women's team all season and paced them with a 10th place finish at the Princeton Invite out of 206 runners in a time of 21:61.1.
Grant Onken led the men's team with a 45th place finish, out of 181 runners, in a total time of 25:00.8.

Kent State's women's team was picked to finish ninth out of the 12 teams while the men's team was voted on to finish in seventh out of nine teams this year.
Flash Back to 2014 MAC Championships …
The Flashes competed at the 2014 MAC Championships in Mount Pleasant, Michigan as the women's team took eighth out of 12 and the men's team took sixth out of nine.
The women's team was led by former runner, Kelsey McAlpine, who took 17th overall with a time of 21:23. Rachel Slingluff came in five spot behind McAlpine for 22nd overall at 21:32. The team finished with 202 points and a final team total time of 1:50:46.
On the men's side, former Flash runner Matt Kahl led the way with a 14th place finish to earn All-MAC second team honors in a time of 24:54. Mitchell Grose finished in second on the team and 31st overall with a final time of 25:29. The team finished with 166 points and a total time of 2:07.44.
At last year's championships, Toledo's women's team won the team title with a total of 48 points | 1:44:58 as Eastern Michigan's Victoria Veronko won the individual title with a time of 20:21.
Eastern Michigan's men's team won the team title with a total of 23 points | 2:02:02 as the Eagles' Willy Fink won the individual title at 24:15.

Slingluff Named Co-Runner of the Week
On September 15th, the Mid-American Conference announced that senior Rachel Slingluff was named co-Runner of the Week after her performance at the Tommy Evans Invitational in Akron, Ohio as she led the Golden Flashes to a 3-0 record on the day.
Slingluff won the individual title at the Tommy Evans Invite to mark her first career victory as a Golden Flash with a time 18:30 on the 5K course.
Kent State defeated host and rival, Akron, 19-42 and other division I opponent, Youngstown State, 19-44. The Golden Flashes just edged out division II opponent, Malone, narrowly by a score of 27-28.
