Golden Flashes’ Rally Falls Short in MAC Semifinal Loss to Ohio

ATHENS, Ohio – Kent State volleyball saw one of the best seasons in program history come to an end in a 3-1 (12-25, 18-25, 25-23, 15-25), loss to host Ohio in a Mid-American Conference Championship semifinal match Saturday night. The No. 2 seed Bobcats advanced to play No. 1 seed Northern Illinois in tomorrow night's championship.
The third-seeded Golden Flashes close the season with a 20-10 record and played in the semifinals of the MAC Championship for the first time since 2007. The Flashes claimed a share of the first MAC East Division title in program history and their 20 victories are tied for the second-most all-time.
One night after recording her 1,000th career kills, Kelly Hutchison posted a double-double with 16 kills to lead the offense to go with 13 digs. The senior shook off a rough first set and had 15 kills and a .394 hitting percentage over the final three sets to finish her career 1,025 kills.
Junior Drew Norberg posted 11 kills without any errors on 19 attempts for a .579 hitting percentage. Junior Katarina Kojic led the Flashes with 33 assists and added 13 digs.
