
PNC Wagon Wheel Challenge Set to Heat up the MACC Wednesday Night

Kent State will host the second PNC Wagon Wheel Challenge game for women's basketball this Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
Fans who post a photo on social media in Kent State gear with the hashtag #BeatAkron will receive two free tickets to the game. The first 500 students through the doors will receive a free t-shirt.

• Time Warner Cable Sports Channel will air the game locally with Dave Bacon doing the play-by-play and Jacki Windon as the color analyst
• ESPN3 will also air the game online
• Dave Wilson will have the call on 640AM WHLO and Golden Flashes iHeart Radio

The Matchup
• Kent State holds a 48-12 record over Akron all-time
• The Zips have won the last five meetings, including a 74-67 victory at home earlier this season
• The Golden Flashes' last rivalry win was Feb. 2012 at home by a score of 77-76
PNC Wagon Wheel Challenge
• The Challenge began for the 2011-2012 season and consists of a point system to determine the victor between rivals Kent State and Akron
• 15 varsity sports are included in the challenge. Each sport can earn a point based on head-to-head competition
• Kent State is undefeated in the challenge winning the inaugural one 9-6 and winning 8-7 in 2012-2013
• The Golden Flashes made it three-in-a-row with a 8.5-6.5 victory last season and are already ahead 4-2 this year
MACtion Heating Up
• With the final two weeks left of conference play, the race for seeding in the MAC Tournament is heating up
• Ohio and Ball State are vying for the No. 1 seed at 12-2 and 11-3, respectively
• Akron and Western Michigan are both 9-5
• Buffalo and Toledo are tied at 8-6 while Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan are both 7-7 with Northern Illinois close behind at 6-8
• Kent State currently sits as the No. 10 seed at 3-11 while Miami and Bowling Green follow, both at 2-12
• The first round of the MAC Tournament will be held at conference sites March 9th with winners advancing on to Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland on March 11th
• The top four seeds receive a bye through to the second round as seeds 5-8 host seeds 9-12 at their home courts
