Gymnastics Hosts the 2015 MAC Championships this Weekend

The Kent State's gymnastics team hosts the 2015 Mid-American Conference Championships this weekend, Saturday, March 21st in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center, with competition slated for 2pm.

For tickets for this weekend's event, call the Kent State Ticket office at 330.672.2244, or purchase them at the door. Doors open at 12:30 pm Saturday. Pricing for tickets are $10 (Adults), and $5 for MAC Students (with IDs), Youths and Seniors.
The Golden Flashes ended the regular season at 6-7 overall and 2-4 in the MAC. Freshman Rachel Stypinski was named to the All-MAC First Team after her stellar freshman season. Stypinski was named Specialist of the Week a record sixth time this past week and looks to win the title on the balance beam and floor exercise this weekend.

Kent State aims to protect their home gymnasium and win the tournament title for the first time since 2009. Coming into Kent, Central Michigan is trying to win their sixth straight tournament title as they won the regular season title this season, their first since 2012.

Last year, Kent State won the regular season title, and Central Michigan won the tournament with a final score of 196.475.Â
Last Time Out ...Â
The Flashes dropped their regular season meet and last MAC meet at Bowling Green, 195.700-195.050. Brooke Timko and Chelsea Drooger led the way for Kent State on the vault with a first place tie with a score of 9.850. Michaela Romito, Drooger and Timko all three tied for second on bars with a 9.825.
Rachel Stypinski continued to shine in her first collegiate season as she took first on the balance beam, 9.875, and first on the floor with a 9.925. Nicolle Eastman tied for second on beam with a 9.800.
