
Flashes Travel to Muncie for MAC Outdoor Championships

The Kent State's men's and women's track and field teams head to Muncie, Indiana for the 2015 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by Ball State University on Thursday, May 14th and will conclude on Saturday, May 16th.
The Golden Flashes' women's team looks for title number eight and their sixth straight, as the men are seeking their fifth title and first since 2004. This year at the conference championships, Kent State will have 55 total individuals compete with 30 women and 25 men.

Flash Back to 2014 Outdoor Championships … Athens, Ohio
Final Results
A year ago, Kent State's women's team notched their fifth straight title with their win in Athens, Ohio. Kent State won with a final total of 132 points holding off Akron with 127 points. Head Coach Bill Lawson was named the 2014 Women's Coach of the Year, while Dior Delopohont was named co-Most Valuable Performer and Danniel Thomas was crowned Most Outstanding Field Performer.
Roseanne Erickson and Ann Marie Duffus joined Delophont and Thomas on the All-MAC First team while Joh'Vonnie Mosley was selected to the All-MAC Second team.
Delophont returned home from Athens with a victory in the high jump (1.82m), which set the MAC Championships meet record, and a first place finish in the triple jump (13.08m).
Thomas won both of her events at the championships, as she set the MAC Record in the discus (57.67m) and took first in the shot put (16.82m).
Ann Marie Duffus finished in first in the 100m Hurdles (13.30) with a new MAC Championships meet record. Roseanne Erickson won the long jump last year at 6.11m.
On the men's side last year, Wayne Gordon was named the Most Outstanding Track Performer as Matthias Tayala was named co-Most Valuable Performer at the meet. William Barnes and Reggie Jagers joined Gordon and Tayala on the All-MAC First Team as Miles Dunlap, Laron Brown and Nathaniel Scales were named to the All-MAC Second Team.
Wayne Gordon won two events, the 100m dash and 200m dash. In the 100m, Gordon won with a time of 10.50-seconds and in the 200m he won with a time of 20.81.
William Barnes won the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.86. Matthias Tayala won the men's hammer throw with a MAC Championships meet record at 69.94m (229' 5").
Athletes of the Week ...
This week, Morgan Estes, Jesse Oxley and Wayne Gordon won the MAC Athletes of the Week awards for the final weekly awards of the year.
Morgan Estes was named co-women's field athlete of the week after taking first in the pole vault with a new personal-best 4.17m (13' 8.25"). Estes ranks second in the conference and is 29th in the nation.
Wayne Gordon was named the men's track athlete of the week after his performance at the Campbell-Wright Open this past weekend in Akron, Ohio. Gordon ran the 100m dash in 10.38-seconds for a first place finish. Gordon's time is first in the Mid-American Conference and ranks 48th in the nation.
Jesse Oxley was named the men's field athlete of the week as he went into Akron and defeated both Zips' pole vaulters, Shawn Barber and Matthew Rowland, on their runway. Oxley took first in the event with a jump of 5.20m (17' 0.75") as Rowland took second at 5.05m (16' 6.75") and Barber recorded no height.
