CLEVELAND, Ohio – Kent State senior middle blocker Bridget Wilhelm was recognized for her standout play for the Golden Flashes by being named Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Wilhelm provided Kent State with a consistent offensive option in the middle throughout the weekend, hitting at a .527 clip over the team's three matches. She recorded double-digit kills in each match and finished with 33 kills (3.00 per set) on the weekend.
This is the fifth time during her Kent State career that Wilhelm has been named MAC East Offensive Player of the Week after also earning the award following the first week of the season. Wilhelm, whose .363 hitting percentage ranks second in the conference, leads the Flashes in blocks (0.96 per set) and is third on the team in kills (2.19 per set).
Kent State will begin the MAC season this weekend, as Miami and Bowling Green come to the M.A.C. Center. The Flashes will play the RedHawks on Friday and the Falcons on Saturday. Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m.
