
Soccer to Face Off with Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan

Kent State soccer takes their record-tying 10-match win streak on the road this weekend as they take on Central Michigan on Friday, Oct. 14, followed by a contest with Eastern Michigan on Sunday, Oct. 16. Friday's match with the Chippewas will kick-off from the CMU Soccer Complex at 6 p.m., while Sunday's match with the Eagles gets underway from Scicluna Field at 1 p.m.

The Golden Flashes remain atop the MAC East with a record of 10-1-0 (6-0-0 MAC) having shutout Akron (4-0) and Buffalo (1-0) last week.
Kent State's Jenna Hellstrom and Katie Kingsbury swept MAC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week honors, respectively, as Hellstrom finished the week with three goals and two assists while Kingsbury made seven saves against Buffalo to earn her first career win and shutout.
RANKING THE GOLDEN FLASHES
• With a 10-1-0 record, Kent State ranks third in the nation in win-loss-tie percentage at .909.
• Nationally, Jenna Hellstrom ranks first in points per game (2.55), sixth in goals per game (0.91) and second in assists per game (0.73).
• The Golden Flashes lead the MAC in goals per game (2.18) and goals allowed (8).
• Donavan Capehart is eighth in the conference in goals (5) and tied for fourth in points per game (1.00).
• Seniors Abbie Lawson and Brittany Maisano have each made 70 career starts, putting them in a tie for seventh all-time in Kent State history.
THE MATCHUPS
Central Michigan:
• The Chippewas lead the all-time series against Kent State with a record of 11-7-2. In matches played in Mount Pleasant, the series is even at 5-5-1.
• Kent State was a 3-2 winner in last year's match at Central Michigan with goals coming from Kristen Brots, Abbie Lawson and Hayden Pascoe.
• Central Michigan comes into this weekend ranked second in the MAC West with a record of 12-1-1 (4-1-1 MAC).
• The Chippewas had extended win streak of their own this season, starting 8-0 before falling to Northern Illinois on Sept. 23.
• CMU is led by sophomore Alexis Pelafas who leads the MAC with 13 goals so far this season.
Eastern Michigan:
• Kent State is 9-12-0 all-time against the Eagles but the Golden Flashes have won four of their last five matches with Eastern Michigan, dating back to 2011.
• The Golden Flashes shutout the Eagles 3-0 last season at Zoeller Field as Donavan Capehart recorded her second career hat-trick.
• Eastern Michigan comes into this weekend with a record of 4-8-2 (2-4 MAC), having defeated Bowling Green and Toledo last weekend. The Eagles will host Ohio Friday night before the Golden Flashes make their way to Ypsilanti on Sunday.
• Redshirt senior Ellie Tillar leads the Eagles with four goals and three assists this season.

Following this weekend's matches, the Golden Flashes will have three matches left in the regular season, two of which will be at home. Kent State hosts Miami on Thursday, Oct. 20 and then Ball State comes to town on Sunday, Oct. 23 for the final home match of the season.
