CLEVELAND – Kent State University golfer Ian Holt has been named MAC Golfer of the Week for his win at the Cleveland State Invitational this week.
For the third straight tournament, Holt led Kent State, this time taking his first career tournament title. His score of 18-under par 198 is the new program record for a 54-hole tournament, beating Ben Curtis' record from the 99-00 season by two strokes. Holt is on a tear and making national waves, with seven straight rounds of 70 or better.
The Golden Flashes won the tournament with an unprecedented score of 46-under par 818 (270-271-277). The 44 stroke win obliterated the program's 54-hole tournament record for total score and score related to par.
The men's golf team will follow up its record performance by competing in the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in Jonesborough, Tennessee beginning Oct. 14.
