Flashes Host Ohio State & Cleveland State in Thanksgiving Throwdown

Kent State hosts No. 4 Ohio State and Cleveland State Tuesday at 7 p.m., in the inaugural Thanksgiving Throwdown. The non-traditional tri-meet will take place on two mats in the M.A.C. Center.
Tuesday will mark the first dual competition of the year for the Golden Flashes, who are coming off a third place finish at the Navy Classic on Saturday. Last season, Kent State finished 15-3 in dual meets, closing out the season with nine straight victories.

"With Wrestlers in Business involved, the goal is to make this an annual event on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and rotate it around the three locations," Head coach Jim Andrassy said. "Along with being a great sporting event, it's going to be a fun social event and we expect a big turnout."

History vs. Cleveland State and Ohio State
The Golden Flashes will be renewing an old rivalry with the Vikings that dates back to 1932. The battle for Northeast Ohio last occurred four seasons ago, when Kent State topped Cleveland State 31-10 on Feb. 8, 2013 at the M.A.C. Center. The Flashes lead the all-time series with the Vikings 18-8-1 and have won the last nine meetings. CSU's last win came in January of 2004.
Ohio State's series with Kent State dates back to 1930. The Buckeyes lead the all-time series 18-8 and have won the last six meetings. The Flashes last victory came in January of 2007. The last time the teams met at the M.A.C. Center, Ohio State earned a 22-15 victory, but each squad won five matches.

Tickets
Fans will have several options for viewing the 30 matches along with a special recognition of Olympic gold medalist Kyle Snyder.
VIP packages include chairback seats, in-event floor access next to the mats, an all-inclusive buffet meal and a cash bar with one free drink ticket for $30. A limited number of VIP packages are available.
Single chairback tickets are $12, lower reserve are $8 and upper general admission are $6. Group rates of 15 or more people start at $3 per seat.
