KENT, Ohio - The Kent State University men's basketball team continues its road trip with a matchup in Boston at Northeastern Sunday at 2 p.m.

- The Kent State Golden Flashes enter Sunday's game at 4-2 on the season, most recently defeating the Wofford Terriers 66-59. The game ended the Gulf Coast Showcase, in which the Flashes went 2-2. - In both losses last week, Kent State was within a possession of the opposition in the final minute of the game. - Sunday's game in Boston ends a run of four away games in the first seven games of the season. After this, the Flashes return to the M.A.C. Center for four games from Dec. 2-18. - This is the second game ever between Kent State and Northeastern. - The Golden Flashes are 0-1 against the Huskies, having fallen to them previously on Dec. 30, 2009 in Santa Clara, California, 61-58, in the Cable Car Classic. - In that game, the Flashes and Huskies were tied in the final two minutes. The Flashes had a chance to tie the game at the end of regulation, but a 3-pointer with 4 seconds left was missed. - Coincidentally, Kent State played Wofford and Northeastern back-to-back in 2009 as well. - Northeastern holds a record of 3-2, most recently defeating Maine, 80-72. The season so far has been highlighted by a road win over UConn. The team has also split its nonconference series with Boston. - The Huskies are paced by star point guard T.J. Williams, who leads Northeastern with 23.6 points and 6.4 assists per game. - The Huskies have been led for over a decade by head coach Dave Coen. Coen has been a big name in Boston area basketball for years, having previously coached as an assistant at Boston College for nine seasons. |
