KENT, Ohio - The Kent State University men's basketball team (7-5) will end nonconference play against the Texas Longhorns (6-5) Tuesday at 6 p.m. CST/7 p.m. EST on ESPNU.

- The Kent State men's basketball team will finish nonconference play Tuesday when the team takes on the Texas Longhorns on ESPNU. This is the second straight "Power 5" opponent for the Golden Flashes, who dropped a game on a late run last week at Oregon State, 69-50. - After the Flashes gun for their eighth nonconference win, the team will begin Mid-American Conference play at home against Ball State on Jan. 3. The team's first road conference game is scheduled for Jan. 6 at Ohio. - Tuesday's game is on the back end of back-to-back road games. From here on out, road games are spread out quite evenly. The Flashes will not play three straight games on the road in MAC play, and will only play two more back-to-back road game sets. The next one will be at Eastern Michigan on Jan. 31 and at Miami (OH) Feb. 4. The second set begins with a game down the road at Akron. - Tuesday's game will be the first ever between the Longhorns and the Flashes. It will also be the first time Kent State will have played a game in Austin, Texas. - A win Tuesday for Kent State would make them .500 all-time against the Big 12. The Flashes hold a 3-4 record against the "Power 5" conference, with victories over West Virginia and Oklahoma State. - Texas enters the game at 6-5 and will also be entering conference play after Tuesday. The Longhorns are fresh off of a 96-60 win over UAB and have also defeated Alabama and Long Beach State this month. - Shaka Smart is in year two at Texas. He has led six straight teams to the NCAA Tournament, including five straight teams at VCU.
