KOKOMO, Ind. – Kent State (14-5) won its first midweek game of the season on Tuesday as the team beat Evansville (9-10) 6-3 at a neutral site in Kokomo, Indiana.

It didn't take much time for the Flashes to grab a lead as they scored two runs in the 1^st and followed that up with a three-run 2^nd. In the opening frame, Zach Beckner singled before Dylan Rosa cracked a homerun to dead center field. In the 2^nd, Conner Simonetti led off the inning with a single and Tim DalPorto reached on an error to put two on. Luke Burch tripled them both in. Zarley Zalewski then hit a double to get the team's fifth RBI.

Evansville was able to break through in the 5^th with one run on a single and double. They added another in the 7^th on three singles and a fielder's choice to make it 5-2. It became a 5-3 game in the next frame when the Aces scored on another single-fielder's choice combination.

In the bottom of the 8^th, Kent State scored the final run of the game when Simonetti doubled and Pete Schuler singled him home.

Connor Wollersheim earned his first collegiate win as he went 6.0 innings with five hits, one run, three walks and three strikeouts. Patrick Dayton followed in relief before Tim Faix filled in 1.1 innings of work. Zach Willeman earned his sixth save of the season by earning the final four outs, including a strikeout to end the game.

Simonetti finished the day going 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored. Mason Mamarella also picked up two hits. Both teams had an even ten hits.

Mid-American Conference play will begin this weekend as the Flashes will travel to Central Michigan for a three-game set.
