
Gymnastics Hosts Cornell Sunday for Senior Day

KENT, Ohio – After a one day lay off, the Kent State gymnastics team will play host again, as the Cornell Big Red comes to town for Senior Day on Sunday, March 6th at 1 p.m. in the M.A.C. Center. The 2016 Golden Flashes senior class is comprised of three gymnasts, Nicolle Eastman, Kayla Kosmerl, and Rebecca Osmer.
Kent State
The Golden Flashes (8-3, 6-0 MAC) are coming off an impressive comeback performance in their Flip for the Cure meet against Eastern Michigan on Friday, March 4th. Trailing after three rotations, the Golden Flashes tied their season-high on floor with a 49.250 to defeat the Eagles 195.025-194.025.
Sophomore Rachel Stypinski scored a career-high 9.95 on beam, taking first and putting in her in a tie for fifth all-time in Kent State history. Stypinski also captured victory on floor with 9.925 and tied for first on bars with a 9.875.
Junior Skyelee Lamano tied her career-high of 9.875 on floor, finishing in a tie for second place with fellow junior Jordan Hardison.
Nicolle Eastman turned in a solid performance, finishing with scores of 9.8 (vault), 9.775 (floor), and 9.75 (beam). Eastman finished in a tie for first place on vault. Rebecca Osmer competed as an exhibitionist on bars, posting a 9.8, while Kayla Kosmerl scored a 9.675 on floor as an exhibitionist.
Cornell
The Big Red (10-7) enter the Senior Day meet after finishing in a tie for first place in the Ivy Classic on Sunday, Feb. 28.
Cornell posted team scores of 48.125 (vault), 48.100 (bars), 48.675 (beam), and 48.425 (floor), bringing their final score to 193.325.
Kaitlin Green came away with two victories for the Big Red, scoring a 9.85 on bars and a 9.875 on floor.

Following their Senior Day meet with Cornell, the Golden Flashes head to George Washington on Sunday, March 13th for a tri-meet with the Colonials and the Yale Bulldogs.
