Kent State Captures 7th Place Finish at Liz Murphey

ATHENS, Ga. – No. 14 women's golf finished the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic by taking the match over Denver 3.5-2.5 on Sunday to place 7th in the event.
The 7th-place finish put the Flashes in front of No. 1/1 Duke and No. 4/7 Arkansas in the final tournament standings.
Michaela Finn won 5&5 in the closing round as Amira Alexander won 5&3. Josée Doyon defeated her opponent 3&1. Wad Phaewchimplee finished all square while Taylor Kim fell 2 down through 16.
No. 3/5 Alabama won the event by defeating No. 6/3 UCLA 3-2.
The Golden Flashes found themselves vying for 7th place after they landed even but lost a tiebreaker to eventual runner-up UCLA then fell to No. 5/4 Northwestern in the third round of competition, both match play formats.
The team will be back in action April 16-17 at the Lady Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, an event they won last season. They will then contend for their record-setting 18th-straight Mid-American Conference Championship April 22-24 in Noblesville, Indiana.
