
Soccer Heads to Dayton Sunday

Kent State Soccer (1-1-0) returns to the pitch this weekend as they travel to Baujan Field to take on the Dayton Flyers (0-2-0) on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 12 p.m. Sunday's match will be aired on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel.
The Golden Flashes head into this weekend having defeated Canisius 3-0 in their home opener on Sunday, Aug. 21. Kristen Brots, Jenna Hellstrom and Hayden Pascoe each registered a goal in the win. Pascoe also picked up an assist on the Brots goal as she played the ball the Jaime Eiben who crossed the into box where it was met by the head of Brots.
Ashleah McDonald stopped all three of the Golden Griffins' shots on goal, registering her fifth career shutout and 12th career win.
FLASHES IN THE RECORD BOOKS
• Senior Jenna Hellstrom is tied fifth in the nation among in career assists (25) among active players.
• Hellstrom currently ranks fourth in Kent State history in career goals (24), third in career assists (23), and fourth in career points (69).
• Sophomore Ashleah McDonald is now tied for seventh in career shutouts (5) and eighth in career saves (89).
• Redshirt junior Donanvan Capehart ranks second in multiple-goal games (4) behind Lauren Caminati '03 who has six. Capehart is also tied for 10th in career goals with 15.
THE MATCHUP
• Sunday's match marks the first meeting in program history between Kent State and Dayton.
• The Flyers come into this weekend having lost their last match to Ohio 2-1.
• In their first game of the season, the Flyers lost 2-1 to Cincinnati, a match that went into two overtimes.
• Junior Alexis Kiehl has scored both goals for the Flyers this season.
• Before taking on the Golden Flashes on Sunday, Dayton will square off against Bucknell at home on Friday.

After Sunday's bout with Dayton, the Golden Flashes head south to take on the University of North Florida (Friday, Sept. 2) and Jacksonville University (Sunday, Sept. 4) as part of the Jacksonville Tournament.
