
Staff Changes in Kent State Athletics

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State University athletic department has announced several staffing changes as we enter the 2017 calendar year.
Phil Tizio has joined the Golden Flash athletic department as the assistant director for compliance. Tizio comes from Western Carolina, where he served as the athletic department's primary compliance contact and coordinated all daily compliance operations. He previously served at Ohio State and Youngstown State.
Alicia Gaffney has transitioned out of her role as associate director for special projects and events. The 2004 Kent State graduate is staying with the university in the role of Associate Director in the Advancement Events department.
Jim Hofbauer has stepped down from the position of assistant athletic director/director of athletic advancement. A 2005 graduate of Kent State, Hofbauer leaves to take an advancement position with University Hospitals.
Kristin Reed is stepping down from her role as the assistant athletic director/eligibility coordinator. Reed originally joined Kent State as an academic counselor before transitioning to compliance in 2015. She will remain at Kent State in an academic role, pursuing her doctoral degree.
T.J. Christie has been promoted to the role of director of revenue enhancement and fan engagement. Christie had previously served in the marketing office, before taking on the role of Group Sales Manager. He continues in his group sales role, while also overseeing the department's marketing efforts.
John Hardesty transitions to the position of assistant director for compliance. Hardesty started his career at Kent State as a graduate assistant in the academic services office. He was eventually promoted to a full time academic counselor, and later to Assistant Director for Student-Athlete Academic Services/Director of Football Academics.
