
Flashes Face First East Division Foe at Ohio

Kent State (7-9, 1-3) will play its first Mid-American Conference East Division game this Saturday as they take on division-favorite Ohio (12-3, 3-1) on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Matchup
• Kent State is 51-28 all-time against Ohio
• The Bobcats have won the last four meetings, including a 86-52 victory at home and 93-54 win in Kent last season
• The Flashes last won in March 2014 on the road in a 69-64 game
• Ohio was picked to win the East in the preseason coaches poll and received votes to take both the regular season and tournament titles
• They opened up the conference season with wins against Bowling Green and Buffalo before falling on the road at Northern Illinois, 88-80
• Most recently, the Bobcats defeated the Zips 85-69 on Wednesday in Akron
On the Upswing
• With one more win this season, Kent State will have more wins than the team accomplished in the past five seasons
• The team finished 6-23 in 2016, 5-25 in 2015, 7-23 in 2014, 3-27 in 2013 and 6-21 in 2012
• The most MAC wins in any of the last five seasons was five in 2011-12
• The Golden Flashes are very close to have already surpassed the total as they lost a close one-point game on Wednesday and have battled two teams to overtime this season
Triple Threat
• The trio of Larissa Lurken, Jordan Korinek and McKenna Stephens have put together strong games in the last two outings
• All three recorded double-doubles in the win against Eastern Michigan last Saturday
• Lurken, the MAC's leader in scoring, is on a hot pace, averaging 29.5 points in the last two outings while recording 16 rebounds, nine assists, three blocks and three steals
• Korinek reached her season high in scoring her last game out and averages nearly a double-double with 23.5 points and 9.5 rebounds this past week
• Stephens similarly averaged close to a double-double against EMU and NIU with 15.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game
Events Coming Up
• The Flashes' next home game, Saturday, January 21, will be a doubleheader with the men's team as both take on Toledo
• A reveal of a brand new gameday experience at the M.A.C. Center will take place before the men's game and will include words from President Warren
• Saturday, February 18 will be the annual Play4Kay game at the M.A.C. Center as the teams will don pink to support breast cancer research
