Flash Facts |
-Â Â Â Â The Kent State men's basketball team will look to win its third straight game Tuesday when it travels to Buffalo for a 7 p.m. tipoff on ESPN3.
-Â Â Â Â Kent State is riding a wave of momentum, fresh off snapping Akron's 30-game home winning streak Friday, 70-67. The Flashes won with solid defense, getting just enough stops against the top team in the Mid-American Conference to record a win.Â
-Â Â Â Â The game was tied going into the final minute of play. The Flashes scored on a step-back long jumper from Deon Edwin with 45 seconds left, and on the opposite end, Akron's Johnson missed a free throw shot. The one point advantage allowed the Flashes to make repeated trips to the foul line and seal the win.Â
-Â Â Â Â With the win, the Flashes are in a three-way tie at 7-7 with Western Michigan and Toledo. As it stands, Western Michigan takes the top spot in the tie breaker at fifth, Kent State sits sixth and Toledo seventh. The pack will be broken up Tuesday when Western Michigan and Toledo face off. The Flashes are a game out of the fourth seed and a first round bye. Ball State currently occupies the slot and hosts Eastern Michigan Tuesday.
-Â Â Â Â Buffalo is tied with Ohio and is currently the third seed. Mathematically, Buffalo is still in the hunt for the MAC regular season title. After starting 7-10, the Bulls have won eight of their last 10 games and six straight.Â
-Â Â Â Â This is the second of two regular season games between Buffalo and Kent State. The Bulls took the first meeting at the M.A.C. Center, 82-69.Â
-Â Â Â Â This will be the 45th game between Kent State and Buffalo. The Flashes are 29-15 all-time against them.
-Â Â Â Â Nate Oats is in year two as the head coach of Buffalo and year four with the program, having previously served as the team's top assistant.
