Baseball Loses Second Game at College of Charleston 10-7

CHARLESTON, S.C. –Kent State (8-5) got off to another strong start on Saturday, but was not able to hold off College of Charleston (8-7) in a 10-7 loss.

The Golden Flashes began the game with a four-run 1^st inning. Luke Burch doubled to right center and Mason Mamarella singled him home. Then, after a Dylan Rosa walked, Tim DalPorto and Sam Hurt both singled to score the other three runs.

However, the Cougars answered with a six-run frame of their own. A single, homerun, four walks and a double gave them a 6-4 lead.

Kent State took the lead back in the following inning with three-runs. Burch started it off once again, this time with a solo homerun. Mamarella was then hit by a pitch and Rosa singled to put two on. Pete Schuler picked up a RBI with a base hit. DalPorto then grounded out to player another.

The lead once again did not last, as College of Charleston scored two in the 2^nd and then one run each in the next two innings to take the game.

Zach WIlleman suffered the loss in the start as he lasted just 2.2 innings with nine runs, six hits, five walks and one strikeout. Connor Wollersheim was successful in relief as he gave up six hits but no earned runs and no walks while striking out three in 3.2 innings. Patrick Dayton finished the game on the mound with one hit and four strikeouts.

Burch had a big game out of the leadoff spot, going 4-for-5 with a double and homerun. Rosa finished with two hits and two runs scored.

The final game of the series has been moved up to a 3 p.m. start on Sunday due to potential inclement weather.
