
Women's Track and Field Concludes Weekend at Ohio State and Auburn

Kent State's women's track and field concluded their weekend of competition at the Jesse Owens Classic in Columbus, Ohio and the War Eagle Invitational in Auburn, Ala. on Saturday April, 22.
JESSE OWENS CLASSIC
For the second time this season, Danniel Thomas swept the women's discus and shot put titles. Thomas posted winning marks of 56.83m (186' 5.25") and 17.9m (58' 8.5") in the discus and shot put, respectively.
Freshman Maria Horrigan turned in a career-best performance in the pole vault, taking first-place with a personal-best 4.11m (13' 5.75"). Horrigan's mark ranks fourth all-time in Kent State history and currently third in the Mid-American Conference. Finishing in tie for second was Sam Tollerud at 3.88m (12' 8.75"), followed by Morgan Estes in fourth also at 3.88m.
Talia Falco set a career-best mark of 11.85m (38' 10.5") in the triple which landed her a third-place finish. In the discus, Victoria Ross finished 11th with a mark of 39.95m (131' 0.75").
Olivia Gaus set a personal-record in the 800m, finishing with a time of 2:11.84 to take seventh-place. In 13th was Hannah Fleck with a time of 2:13.75. Samantha Shaver was Kent State's top-finisher in the 100m dash, taking 27th with a time of 12.33.
In the long jump, Cayla Carey collected a sixth-place finish with a mark of 5.74m (18' 9.75"). Lauren Pannell came away tied for 10th in the high jump with a mark of 1.63m (5' 4").
In the last women's running event of the day, the 4x400m relay team of Aiyanna Crawford, Fleck, Maria Horrigan and Shaver finished 10th with a time of 4:00.95.
WAR EAGLE INVITATIONAL
Kent State's 4x100m relay team of Kayla Seymour, Jorian Ordway, Mi'Angel Daniels and Bennisha Nunn got the day started with a seventh-place finish as they logged a time of 46.48.
After making it out of the qualifying round of the 100m hurdles Daniels went on to finish seventh in the finals with a time of 14.03 seconds. Taylor Farquhar ran a season-best 59.77 in the 400m hurdles to take second-place.
In the 400m dash, Ordway finished in fifth-place with a personal-record time of 54.69, the eighth-fastest time in Kent State history. Finishing in 10th was Tyler Williams with a time of 56.54. Lauren Burnett ran in the 800m, taking fourth-place with a time of 2:14.56. In the 200m dash, Seymour finished 29th with a time of 25.23.
The Golden Flashes closed out the War Eagle Invitational with a victory in the 4x400m relay. Williams, Ordway, Farquhar and Seymour teamed up to run 3:42.69, finishing nearly six seconds ahead of the rest of the field.
