
Women’s Track and Field Finishes Third at 2025 MAC Outdoor Championships

ATHENS, Ohio – A pair of Golden Flashes won individual events and the 4x100-meter relay team broke the school record on Saturday's final day of competition at the 2025 Mid-American Conference Women's Track and Field Championship.
Kent State finished third in the team standings with 113.5 points, 28.5 more than rival Akron.
The day started with a record-setting 4x100m relay race by Taylor Korytkowski, Yissis Cortijo Dominc, Rakyia Addo, Amryne Chilton. They shattered the previous record and finished in 45.09 seconds for third place.
Aliesha Shaw won her first discus throw gold in dramatic fashion. Sitting third with one attempt remaining, Shaw unleashed a season-best throw of 165'-11".
Karsyn Spears raced to victory in the 800-meter run with a personal-best time of 2:07.43 that puts her fifth on the Flashes' all-time performance list.
Gabrielle Hammonds and Andrea Filote both clocked top-10 times in school history in the 100-meter hurdles. Hammonds placed second in 13.66 seconds and Filote took sixth in 13.87 seconds. Svenia De Coninck also posted a personal-best and placed eighth in 14.07 seconds. De Coninck also tied for third in the high jump with a height of 5'-7.25".
In the triple jump, Keeli Dunaway recorded a top mark of 40'-11.5" to place fourth.
Marinna Atanmo clocked a PR of 1:00.74 in the 400-meter hurdles, the ninth fastest in Flashes history, for sixth place. Alexandria Verbancic was right behind in 1:00.80 for seventh.
Jericha Petrella (sixth in 400m), Cortijo Dominc (seventh in 100m) and Chilton (seventh in 200m) also scored in individual races.
The 4x400-meter relay team closed the meet with a third-place finish. Petrella, Korytkowski, Ella Baker and Atanmo finished third in 3:43.08.
