Baseball's Game at Canisius Moved to Wednesday

Kent State's (27-13) midweek game at Canisius (26-17) has been pushed back to Wednesday as Tuesday's forecast in Buffalo calls for rain. The game time remains at 3 p.m.

THE MATCHUP
• Kent State is 2-1 all-time against Canisius
• Last season, the Golden Griffins visited Kent State where the Flashes fell 5-4
• In that game, Joey Murray struck out seven batters in a row to start the contest, going on to earn ten strikeouts in four innings
• However, an hour and 13 minute lightning delay changed the game
• After that, the Flashes went up 4-0 before a three-run 5th and two-run 7th would give the Griffs the win
• The first matchup ever for the teams came in 1989 when Kent State won 8-1
• Kent State also won 14-0 in 1990
• Canisius is coming up a series win at Quinnipiac as it took game one 10-4, lost game two 7-4, then won the finale 3-2
• The two teams have common opponents of Buffalo and Youngstown State this season
• The Golden Griffins beat Buffalo 6-5 and 13-5 then lost to them 14-6
• They also lost to Youngstown State at home, 4-2

MAC TOURNAMENT OUTLOOK
• With three conference series left to play, it's time to take a look at where the 11 teams would rank if the MAC tournament were to start today
• At 12-3, Kent State would be the regular season champs and have the No. 1 seed
• Central Michigan would hold the No. 2 spot, currently at 11-4
• The seeding would then continue down the West with Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Ball State, Toledo and Western Michigan holding the 3-7 spots, respectively
• Either Ohio or Buffalo would grab the final seed at 6-9
• Keep in mind, number of games played differs because of open weekends for some teams
• In 2018 with only ten teams in the conference, all teams will play each other in the regular season for a 27-game conference schedule
