Regular Season Concludes this Week in Athens

The 2017 regular season will come to a close this weekend as Kent State (34-14, 17-4) travels to Athens for three games against Ohio (25-25, 11-10). Game one is slated for 6 p.m. on Thursday. The series will continue at 3 p.m. on Friday and will conclude at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

THE MATCHUP
• Kent State is 79-95-1 all-time against the Bobcats
• The Golden Flashes swept the series last year in Athens, taking both games of a doubleheader, 6-0 and 8-0, then winning the finale 6-5
• In fact, Kent State has not lost a game at Ohio since April 24, 2009 when they lost the series opener but came back to win the next two to take the series
• The Flashes have outscored the Bobcats 103-21 in the last four series sweeps in Athens
• In 2015, Ohio won the regular season series at Kent State, winning 0-3 and 5-7 before the Flashes won the last game 9-2
• Last weekend, the Bobcats swept the series at Buffalo, winning 5-3, 12-1 and 3-0
• Ohio is hitting .278 as a team and has a combined ERA of 4.37
WHAT IT WILL TAKE TO CLINCH
• Kent State needs to win one game out of the final three to clinch a regular season MAC championship
• Or, the Flashes could also clinch if Central Michigan loses a game to Ball State
• Kent State is two games up on Central Michigan with three conference games left

MAC TOURNAMENT INFO
• The 2017 MAC Tournament is set to begin Wednesday, May 24 and will continue through Sunday, May 28 with the winner receiving an automatic bid to NCAA Regionals
• The tournament is held in Avon, Ohio, at Sprenger Stadium (formerly All-Pro Freight Stadium)
• An all-tournament pass is $40 for adults, $30 for students with an ID and $30 for youth (ages 4-17)
• Day passes for the first two games are $15 for adults and $10 for students and youth
• Day passes for Friday and Saturday are $10 for adults and $8 for students and youth
• Championship tickets on Sunday are $8 for adults and $6 for students and youth
• Children three and under get in free to all games
• Gates will open one hour prior to the start of each session
