
Volleyball Defeats Ashland in Exhibition Match

ASHLAND, Ohio โ Kent State went on the road Saturday afternoon and came away with a 4-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-21, 26-24) victory over Ashland in an exhibition match.
The Golden Flashes were able to take a look at several different lineups during the exhibition, as 13 players saw court action with just six appearing in all four sets.
Senior libero Challen Geraghty led a strong defensive effort that tallied 82 digs while holding the Eagles to a .089 hitting percentage. ย Geraghty had a match-high 31 digs and senior outside hitter Kelsey Bittinger chipped in 15 digs. Kent State got 11 digs apiece from junior defensive specialist Sam Jones and sophomore defensive specialist Claire Tulisiak. Senior opposite Heather Younkin led the way with three blocks.
Bittinger (14 kills), Younkin (11 kills) and redshirt sophomore outside hitter Darby Connors (11 kills) paced the offense. Senior setter Brittney Jakscht recorded 44 assists.
Kent State opens the regular season at the Cyclone Invitational Aug. 25-26 before returning to the M.A.C. Center for the Golden Flashes Classic the following weekend (Sept. 8-10).
