Former Kent State All-American Reggie Jagers III won gold in the men's discus after recording a winning toss of 61.24 meters Monday at the World University Games in Taipei, Taiwan.
Jagers led after the first rotation with a throw on 60.00 meters on his first attempt. He sat in fourth heading into his fifth attempt after failing to beat that mark on his next three throws. His fifth attempt allowed him to jump into the lead, which stood despite a foul on his final throw.
The Solon, Ohio native concluded his collegiate career for the Golden Flashes as the 2017 NCAA national runner-up in the discus throw this past June. Jagers earned five All-America honors at Kent State, including first-team status in the discus during the past two outdoor seasons.
