KENT, Ohio - The Kent State University men's basketball team will look to eclipse the .500 mark in Mid-American Conference action against Western Michigan on Tuesday, January 15th at 7 p.m. on ESPN3 and the Kent State IMG Sports Network.

- The Kent State University men's basketball team looks to eclipse the .500 mark in Mid-American Conference action when it hosts West Division foe Western Michigan in the M.A.C. Center on Tuesday, January 16th at 7 p.m.
- The Golden Flashes won a thriller last Friday at home against the Ohio Bobcats, 70-69. The game went down to the final seconds and with three seconds remaining with Kent State up by one, Kevin Zabo intentionally missed a free throw to ensure Ohio would not get a good look.
- Senior guard Kevin Zabo registered a career-high 24 points against the Bobcats, shooting 8-for-15 from the field and 4-for-7 from three point land and yanked down a career-best six rebounds. He has scored in double-figures in 10 of the past 11 games after doing so only once in the first six contests.
Kent State received balanced scoring as all nine players that saw action scored. This is the first time all season that every player in the game recorded a point.
- Junior point guard Jalen Avery leads the nation in assist to turnover ratio at 7.33. Avery has not committed a turnover in 2018 and only has three turnovers in the last eight games.
- Sophomore forward Danny Pippen swatted two shots against Miami last Tuesday and ranks seventh in the MAC with 1.3 blocks per game. Pippen has registered a blocked shot in all but three games this season.
- Head coach Rob Senderoff is 4-3 against Western Michigan since taking over the program in 2011-12. The Golden Flashes won the last meeting in Kent in 2016, 85-78.
- Kent State ranks sixth in the MAC in scoring defense (72.5) and in conference-only games is averaging 71.2 ppg which is also fifth in the league. The Golden Flashes are also the sixth-best free throw shooting team in the conference at 71.8%.
