Flashes Blanked by No. 22 Ohio State

KENT, Ohio –The Kent State University field hockey team fell to 5-10 on the season with a 4-0 loss to No. 22 Ohio State (10-6, 3-3 Big Ten) in a non-conference matchup Sunday afternoon at Murphy-Mellis Field. The Flashes (5-10, 3-1 MAC) were led defensively by sophomore Clara Rodriguez Setó with a key defensive save in the second half, her fourth of the season.
Ohio State carried the momentum for the entirety of the game, netting the first goal of the day in the 18th minute when Katie Pyle fired a shot cross goal into the left corner of the cage. The Buckeyes added a second goal of the half to take a 2-0 lead in the 25th minute off the stick of Emma Goldean.
The score remained until the final 10 minutes of the game as the Buckeyes tacked on two goals to bring the final score to 4-0.
The Flashes had two shot attempts on the day, taken by Rodriguez Setó and senior Courtney Weise. Defensively, Rodriguez Setó recorded a defensive save and sophomore goalkeeper tallied 2 saves in the net.
Up next, the Flashes will travel to Athens, Ohio to face Mid-American Conference play against Ohio University on Friday, Oct. 19 at 3:00 p.m.
