Haffner Named MAC East Setter of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio โ Redshirt freshman Alex Haffner has been named Mid-American Conference East Division Setter of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Haffner averaged 11.22 assists per set, 2.00 digs per set and 1.11 points per set to lead Kent State to a home weekend sweep. She ran a balanced offense that registered a .264 hitting percentage and had four players total 24 or more kills over the two matches.
Friday night against Northern Illinois, Haffner recorded a career-high 61 assists, which is the fourth-most during seventh-year head coach Don Gromala's tenure, and added 12 digs for her 10th double-double of the season in the 3-2 victory. She added 40 assists, six digs and a career-high six kills Saturday in a 3-1 win against Western Michigan.
On the season, Haffner is fifth in the conference in assists per set (9.20). She is averaging 2.32 digs per set and shares the team lead with 10 double-doubles.
Kent State (11-13, 4-6 MAC) concludes a four-match homestand at the M.A.C. Center with a pair of matches this weekend. The Flashes will host Ohio for the annual 'Dig Pink' match on Thursday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. and then battle Central Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 5 p.m.
