Five Flashes Garner All-MAC Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Five members of the Kent State University field hockey team garnered All-Mid-American Conference honors as announced by the conference this morning. Juniors Mary Crumlish and Berta Jover Llorens and sophomore Clara Rodriguez Setó earned first team honors while sophomore Emma Bressler and freshman Helena Cambra Soler earned second team recognition.
Mid-American Conference Release
First Team
Sophomore back Clara Rodriguez Setó led the Flashes offensively in the regular season with five goals and seven assists. She was named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week following her performance at Michigan State where she scored both of Kent State's two goals. Starting all 18 games, the Barcelona, Spain native logged 1,273 minutes on the field and was instrumental to the Kent State defense, recording four defensive saves.
Junior goalkeeper Mary Crumlish was key to the Kent State defense and held steady in the cage, starting all 18 games. On the season, she racked up 84 saves for a .689 save percentage and recorded two shut outs on the season. The Buffalo, New York native tallied a season-high 11 saves in a 2-1 victory over Ohio University on Oct. 19.
Junior midfielder Berta Jover Llorens started all 18 games for the Flashes, never leaving the field and logging 1,290 minutes. The Barcelona, Spain native recorded two assists on the season, including the assist on the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Saint Louis on Sept. 2.
Second Team
Sophomore back Emma Bressler started all 18 games, logging 1,187 minutes on the field and providing a spark to the Kent State attack throughout the season. She recorded two assists and netted five goals, including three game-winners. Bressler native scored the game-winning goal in a 3-2 double-overtime victory at Longwood University on Sept. 30.
Midfielder Helena Cambra Soler started all 18 games of her freshman campaign, recording eight assists and scoring a goal in the Kent State attack. In a 3-1 victory over Appalachian State on Oct. 26, Cambra Soler contributed to all three Kent State goals, scoring the first goal of the contest and recording two assists.
The Flashes finished 5-1 in the Mid-American Conference and will compete in the conference tournament, hosted in Oxford, Ohio, as the No. 2 seed on Friday, Nov. 2 at 2:30 p.m.
