CLEVELAND, Ohio – Kent State senior forward Dominique DiNardo has been named the Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.
DiNardo turned in a career weekend, finding the back for the first time in her career and scoring a game-winner in double-overtime in a two-win week for the Golden Flashes. DiNardo scored the third goal in Kent State's, 5-2, win over Buffalo in the 27th minute. She received a pass roughly eight yards in front of the goal and found the back of the net for her first career score. Kent State became the first team to score five goals against Buffalo since then #3 Virginia Tech in 2014.
The Strongsville, Ohio product capped off her career week with the game-winner in double-overtime against Akron in the 102nd minute for the 1-0 victory. She scored from 30 yards out and beat the keeper in the top right shelf for Kent State's eighth straight win over the Zips. The Golden Flashes earned their second golden goal victory the season after beating Syracuse, 2-1, in double-overtime on Sept. 13. With the two wins, Kent State has won four straight matches and outscored the opposition, 11-3, during the stretch.
DiNardo is the fourth Golden Flash to earn a conference weekly award this season, joining Khyla Porter, Isaballe Mihail and Faith O'Neill.
The Golden Flashes hit the road for a pair of games this weekend in Northwest Ohio on Friday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. and Toledo on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m.
