Women's Soccer Signs Seven During Early Signing Period

KENT, Ohio – Kent State women's soccer coach Rob Marinaro announced the addition of seven student-athletes during the fall signing period. Lauryn Arruda (Whitby, Ontario), Anna Campanella (Hudson, Ohio), Hope Doyle (Harrison, Ohio), Reilly Ford (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Kaylyn Galloway (Akron, Ohio), Sarah Melen (Frisco, Texas) and Grace Wolber (Cincinnati, Ohio) will join the Golden Flashes for the 2019 season.
Lauryn Arruda
Whitby, Ontario - Donald A. Wilson Secondary
Whitby FC/ Darby FC - Forward
The true definition of a student-athlete, Arruda was a four-year honor roll winner as well as a four-sport athlete at Donald A. Wilson Secondary. Arruda earned letters in soccer, volleyball, track and field, and cross country. In her club career, Arruda was a part of a 2017 Disney Showcase championship, a 2016 Finalist of the Jefferson Cup, and a 2015 Charity Shield Championship. She was also the 2015 and 2016 OPDL goal-scoring leader. Lauren played for the Ontario Provincial team in 2016 and Darby FC in League 1 in Ontario the past two seasons. She plans to major in Nursing at Kent State.
Anna Campanella
Hudson, Ohio - Hudson High School
Ambassadors Soccer Club - Midfielder
Campanella, a four-year letter winner at Hudson High School, was an All-Akron Second Team and First Team Suburban League selection in her senior season. She was a part of two Hudson teams to finish runner up in the district finals in 2015 and 2018. In her four-year career, she amassed fifteen goals and seven assists, including six goals and five assists in her senior season. In her club career, she was a part of a 2013 run to the State Cup Finals, a 2014 USYS Midwest regional finalist, and the 2016 Disney Cup championship. Campanella becomes the second member of her family to become a Kent State athlete, the first being her grandfather who played baseball for the Flashes.
Hope Doyle
Harrison, Ohio - Harrison High School
Cincinnati Development Academy - Goalkeeper
Doyle, a three-year letter winner at Harrison High School, has been a part of multiple championships in her career. She was the starting goalkeeper for back to back conference championships in 2015 and 2016. She was an academic all-conference performer in three of her four seasons at Harrison, along with winning defensive player of the year in her senior season. Doyle plays her club soccer for the Cincinnati Development Academy.
Reilly Ford
Pittsburgh, Pa. - Upper Saint Clair and Shattuck Saint Mary's
Beadling SC, Shattuck St. Mary's School - Defender
Ford comes to Kent State with championship DNA already intact. In her freshman season, she started and played the entire state final game for the eventual 2015 champs, Upper Saint Clair. She then helped repeat as state champions the following season. She was also a part of a state cup championship in 2016 as a part of Beadling SC. Reilly currently plays for Shattuck St Mary's DA in Faribault, MN in the US Soccer Developmental Academy League. Ford comes from a family that knows what it takes to be a college athlete. Both of her parents were collegiate athletes, her mom playing softball at CCAC and her father playing at Ferris State and then baseball at Pitt. Her brother Connor is currently a stand-out hockey player at Bowling Green.
Kaylyn Galloway
Akron, Ohio - Copley High School
Internationals - Midfielder
Galloway comes to the Flashes as a local product from Akron, Ohio. She attended Copley High School, where she played her freshman and sophomore year and scored 20 goals and won the Suburban League Championship in 2015. She plays club soccer for Internationals, where she was a 2015 champion of the Ohio State Cup and most recently competed in the ECNL. Galloway was a two-time first team selection in the Suburban League and was named offensive MVP in both of her seasons at Copley. Galloway will enroll at Kent State for the 2019 spring semester.
Sarah Melén
Frisco, Texas - John Paul II High School
Dallas Texans FPDL U19 - Goalkeeper
Melén, a four-year starter at John Paul II High School, brings a unique and impressive high school pedigree with her to the Golden Flashes. Melen recorded 16 shutouts as goalkeeper throughout her high school career. She also has international experience as a member of the Swedish U16/17 National Team pools 2016-2018 and played in the finals of Gothia Cup in 2018. Melen plays club soccer for the Dallas Texans.
Grace Wolber
Cincinnati, Ohio – Cincinnati Wyoming High School
Ohio Elite Soccer Academy – Forward
Wolber is a four-year letter winner for Wyoming High School in Cincinnati where she netted 25 career goals and registered 13 assists. She was a member of a Cincinnati Hills League Championship team in 2018 and was named First Team All-CHL. The Cowboys also made the district finals in three of her four seasons. Wolber comes from an athletic family as her mom Amy played basketball at Northern Kentucky and dad Jeff played at Oral Roberts.
