Soccer Announces 2018 Signing Class

KENT, Ohio- Kent State women's soccer Head Coach Rob Marinaro announced that six student-athletes that signed their National Letters of Intent to join the Kent State soccer program prior to the 2018 campaign.
The six newest Golden Flashes are Kendra Kline, Autumn Meisenburg, Sabrina Ortenzi, Khyla Porter, Lauren Rakytiak and Gabrielle Viggiano.
"We are really excited about the six quality young ladies we are adding to our program," said Marinaro. "Coaches Abby Richter and Pat Sweeney did a wonderful job recruiting this group of Ohio players. We are getting high end performers from top clubs and high schools here in our own state. Ohio has great talent and we feel like we capitalized on a wonderful group."
Kendra Kline
Midfield/Defense- 5'4
Kent, Ohio- Theodore Roosevelt HS
Cleveland FC & Ambassadors FC
Kline, a four-year letter winner at Theodore Roosevelt HS was first-team all-league and second team all-district both her junior and senior year. She was part of the Portage Trail Conference Championship team in 2014 as well as an American Suburban League Championship in 2017. While playing club soccer her team was seven-time State Cup Champions as well as two-time Midwest Regional Champions and finished third at the U.S. National Championships in 2014 and 2017. Kline plans to major in Early Childhood Education with a minor in psychology.
Autumn Meisenburg
Defense/Midfield- 5'6
Bay Village, Ohio- Bay HS

A gifted athlete in high school, Meisenburg had varsity letters in softball, lacrosse and soccer. She was an integral part of her soccer team all four years being selected on the Great Lake Conference First-Team her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. She was also All-Ohio in 2017 as well as first-team Greater Cleveland and MVP of the Great Lake Conference. In her high school career, Meisenburg had 37 goals, 33 assists and 107 total points and led her team to finish as a Regional Final Runner-Up her senior year. At Kent State, Meisenburg plans to major in Law Enforcement in hopes to one day become a police officer.
Sabrina Ortenzi
Defense - 5'2
Strongsville, Ohio- Strongsville HS
Cleveland Whitecaps
Ortenzi comes from a winning program at Strongsville where she has been an integral part of three regional finalist teams. She scored 18 goals in her high school career with 20 assists. Last season she was named First Team All-Great Cleveland Conference and Second Team All-Great Cleveland Soccer Coaches Association. Ortenzi competed against some of the best prep competition in the Midwest in the MRL Soccer League.
Khyla Porter
Forward- 5'1
Cincinnati, Ohio- Mount Notre Dame HS
Ohio Elite ECNL
Porter was a four-year letter winner in soccer at Mount Notre Dame High School participating in the Greater girls Cincinnati League Division I (GGCL). Despite being injured her senior year, Porter was voted a second-team all-star in both her freshman and junior seasons and was a first-team all-star her sophomore year. Academically she received second-team honors every season. She led Mount Notre Dame to the GGCL championships in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Porter's best statistical season came as a junior when in 19 games she had ten goals, four assists and 24 total points.
Lauren Rakytiak
Forward- 5'5
Strongsville, Ohio- Strongsville HS
Cleveland Whitecaps
Rakytiak played four years of varsity soccer at Strongsville High School under coach Todd Church. She helped her team to win the District Championship in 2015, 2016 and 2017 as well as two Conference Championships in 2016 and 2017. Her junior season she scored 23 goals and had 9 assists helping herself land on the Greater Cleveland 1st-Team list as well as winning Greater Cleveland Player of the Year. Her senior year she was First-Team Greater Cleveland, First-Team All-Ohio, Great Lakes Region First-Team, and two-time United Soccer Coaches High School All-American. At Kent State, she plans on majoring in Radiology.
Gabrielle Viggiano
Midfield- 5'5
Hilliard, Ohio- Hilliard Bradley HS
Ohio Premier ECNL
Viggiano played four years of varsity soccer at Hilliard Bradley High School under coach Becky Alcox in the Ohio Capital Conference (OCC). She finished her career with 13 goals and 44 assists. She is a two-time First-Team All-OCC, and her senior year was also First-Team All-District and First-Team All-State. In 2014, her team were the winners of the OCC Championship. While playing for Ohio Premier ECNL, Viggiano participated in three National Championship competitions. She plans to major in Biology while at Kent and one day go into the medical or veterinary science field.
