
Baseball Opens Fall Action at Sinclair

DAYTON, Ohio – The Kent State University baseball team opened its fall slate with a 3-0 win at Sinclair Community College Saturday afternoon. The Flashes saw six pitchers combine for a no-hitter.
"Overall, I'm happy with the way we performed," head coach Jeff Duncan stated, "We pitched it very well and efficiently. We took care of the baseball."
Tyler Drabick, Chris Martin, John Matthews, Pavin Parks, Zach Shultz, and Conner Wollersheim each saw action, combining for a no-hitter. Senior Wollersheim started on the mound for the Flashes.
The pitching staff was supported by a strong defensive effort by Kent State. Josh Hollander led the team at shortstop, picking up 9 put outs. Offensively, sophomore Nick Elsen and senior Kian O'Brien each belted RBI singles for the Flashes.
The Flashes will kick off its annual Blue vs. Gold series next Sunday, Oct. 7 at 6:00 p.m. and will play Malone University on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 6:00 p.m. at Schoonover Stadium. The team will also host a Family Day on Saturday October 13, starting at 10:00 a.m. with the second game of the Blue vs. Gold series followed by a barbeque at 1:00 p.m. The team's MAC Championship ring ceremony will be rescheduled at a later date.
