Kent State (2-3-1) takes on Morehead State (1-5-0) at home on Friday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. to close out home non-conference play for the 2018 season. The Golden Flashes will also recognize their five seniors – Ashleah McDonald, Miranda Lambert, Paige Culver, Dominique DiNardo, and Cassandra Sauter prior to the game.
Last Time Out
The Golden Flashes concluded their four-game road trip with a pair of matches at the Courtyard by Marriott UNCW Soccer Invitational against UNCW and Fairleigh Dickinson. Kent State dropped its first match of the weekend, 4-1, against the host Seahawks on Friday evening. The Seahawks took an early lead in the first half, scoring in the 4th minute, but the Flashes responded with a goal from sophomore Maddie Holmes off a corner kick assist by Vital Kats. The Seahawks scored three second half goals to pull away, even though the Flashes had a 5-4 lead in shots.
Fairleigh Dickinson edged Kent State 2-1 on Sunday to wrap up the road trip. Vital Kats scored the lone goal in the 30th minute on a penalty kick. The Knights were quick to answer, scoring just 10 minutes later. The Knights, who were picked to finish second in the Northeast Conference, tied the match in the 81st minute when Elma Kolenovic found the back of the net on a shot from directly in front of the goal.
Kent State Picked to win MAC Regular Season and Tournament
The Golden Flashes were selected to win the Mid-American Conference regular season and tournament championship in the preseason coaches' poll. Kent State has been selected to win a regular season championship in three consecutive years after they were named to win the MAC East Division in 2016 and 2017.
Scouting Morehead State
The Eagles opened their season on a high note, earning a 2-1 victory over Akron. However, they have dropped their last five matches and were shutout in four of those contests against Pitt, Ball State, Ohio State and Kennesaw State. Morehead State has struggled offensively this year, and only scored two goals by Colleen Swift and Katie Quinn. The other goal on the season was credited as an own goal due to an Akron defensive miscue. The Eagles were selected to finish 10th in the Ohio Valley Conference, and are led by 10th year head coach Warren Lipka.
Series History
Kent State leads the all-time series 2-0, with the last meeting occurring in 2012. The Flashes rolled to a 4-1 victory, and won, 1-0, in 2011.

The Golden Flashes play their last non-conference match of the season on the road next week on Thursday, Sept. 13 against Syracuse at 6 p.m.
