Volleyball Suffers Road Setback, 3-1

AKRON, Ohio – The Kent State volleyball team was unable to put together consecutive victories and fell to rival Akron, 3-1 (22-25, 20-25, 28-26, 12-25) in a Crystal Clinic Wagon Wheel Challenge contest Saturday night.
The Golden Flashes (8-10, 1-5 MAC) posted a .405 hitting percentage in taking the third set of the night but hit at a .083 combined in the other three sets to finish the night with a .172 mark.
Senior Ashley Makruski led all players with 15 kills, one short of her career-high. Freshman Morgan Copley added 12 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Redshirt sophomore Alex Haffner tallied her ninth double-double of the season with 42 assists and 11 digs.
Sophomore Erin Gardner led the defense with 19 digs. Junior Kaeleigh Stang added 11 digs.
Kent State returns home next weekend and will welcome Toledo and Ball State to the M.A.C. Center for cross-divisional contests.
