Soccer Prepares for Final Road Trip of Regular Season

The Kent State women's soccer team (5-7-3, 3-3-2 MAC) is on the road for its last Mid-American Conference road swing at Ball State on Thursday, October 24th at 4 p.m. and Miami on October 27th at 1 p.m. The Golden Flashes match against the Cardinals will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Last Game
Kent State tied with Central Michigan, 1-1, in its last contest on Sunday, October 20th at Dix Stadium. Central Michigan found the back of the net in the third minute, but KSU junior Vital Kats had the equalizer in the 30th minute finding the near side of the net off of a free kick. The Flashes were able to earn a point in the MAC standings with the tie.
Kent State in the MAC Standings
The Golden Flashes currently sit in the seventh position in the MAC Standings with 11 points. Three games remain in league play before the tournament begins. The top eight teams qualify for the MAC Tournament with the higher seed hosting the quarterfinals at campus sites.

- Junior Vital Kats was named the MAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career after scoring all three of Kent State's goals on the weekend. The Toronto, Ontario native leads the league in conference-only matches in goals (8) and points (20). She is also tied for second in assists (4). Kats has scored at least one point in each of the last nine matches and has scored a goal in each of the last three. She has scored 22 career goals which is tied for sixth with Donavan Capehart (2014-17) for the sixth most in school history. Her 18 assists are tied for the fourth most in program history with Megan Repas (2009-12). She has registered 62 points in her career which is tied with Jaclyn Dutton (2011-13) for the sixth most in the school record book.
- Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Faith O'Neill is tied for the conference lead with five shutouts, and earlier this year totaled a career-high eight saves at Buffalo. Now in her second year as the full-time goalkeeper, O'Neill is fifth in school history with 11 career shutouts.
- Head coach Rob Marinaro is the second longest tenured coach in the MAC and is in his in 19th season as head coach and 23rd overall with the program. He owns a 180-146-42 career record.
Scouting Ball State
Ball State (12-4, 6-2 MAC) pulled off a stunning 1-0 double-overtime win at conference-leader Bowling Green in its last match on Sunday. Junior Nicky Potts scored the golden goal in the 100th minute to give the Cardinals their fourth overtime win of the campaign. Potts leads the team with 14 points (6g, 2a) despite starting in three matches. Graduate student Tristin Stuteville is 11-4-0 in net and leads with MAC in goals against average (.660). The Cardinals currently reside in second (18 points) in the MAC standings.
Scouting Miami
Miami (3-11-1, 2-5-1 MAC) was shutout in its last two matches against Bowling Green (3-0) and Toledo (1-0). The RedHawks have notched conference wins this season against Eastern Michigan and Buffalo. Senior Olivia Winnett paces the squad with six points (3g, 0a). Sophomore goalkeeper Izzie Vaccari (3-9-1) has started all but two matches between the pipes.
Series History
Kent State shutout Ball State last year at Dix Stadium and then-sophomore Cameron Shedenhelm recorded the game-winner in the 1-0 win. The Cardinals lead the all-time series 11-10-2 and have won the last three in Muncie. Last year the Golden Flashes defeated Miami 4-1 in Kent and have claimed the last three matches in the series. Miami leads the all-time series, 12-9-3.

Kent State will continue MAC play with a game against Miami (3-11-1) Sunday, October 27 at Miami Soccer Field. Following the matchup with The Redhawk's, The Flashes finish up the regular season hosting Ohio University (9-6-1) on Halloween night, Thursday, October 31st at Dix Stadium.
