Soccer Handed First MAC Loss by Visiting BG

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State soccer team was defeated by Bowling Green, 3-1, Friday evening in its first home contest at Dix Stadium in nearly a month.
The Golden Flashes (3-5-2, 1-1-1 MAC) allowed a pair of early goals and trailed 2-0 at halftime. Redshirt sophomore Karly Hellstrom put Kent State on the board in the 53rd minute, finding the back of the end from just outside the box on a nice feed from junior Vital Kats.
The Falcons added a goal in the 60th minute and the Flashes were unable to complete the comeback effort.
Bowling Green held a 14-10 advantage in shots and narrow 5-4 edge in corners. Junior Maddie Holmes led Kent State with four shots.
Redshirt sophomore Faith O'Neill registered four saves in goal for the Flashes.
Kent State will remain at home and host Toledo inside od Dix Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m.
