
Wrestling Heads to App State on Saturday

KENT, OHIO- The Kent State wrestling team hits the road this weekend to take part in the Appalachian State Invitational and App State Open hosted by the App. State Mountaineers in Boone, North Carolina.
Both the Invitational and the Open will take place inside of Varsity Gym on the campus of Appalachian State. The event will begin at 9 a.m. with seven mats going inside the gymnasium. FLO Wrestling will be providing a video feed (for a fee) and free live results for both the Invite and the Open. The links can be found on the wrestling schedule page.
For those interested in attending, tickets for the Mountaineer Invitational are $7 (adult) and $3 (youth). They can be purchased at the entrance on the Rivers Street side of Varsity Gym.
Alongside your Golden Flashes, other teams at the tournaments include host Appalachian State, Oregon State (third place in the Pac-12 last year), West Virginia and Air Force of the Big 12, Duke of the ACC, Gardner-Webb and fellow MAC school Central Michigan.
Wrestlers from Virginia, Campbell, Chattanooga and Presbyterian are also registered for the open tournament.
Kent State is coming off a 2-1 weekend at the Kent State Duals. The Golden Flashes picked up wins over Ashland and Mercyhurst North East.
Colin McCrackenย (197) andย Brady Chrismanย (157) were the two wrestlers that went a perfect 3-0 on the afternoon. McCracken picked up a decision in the Edinboro dual, a major decision in the Ashland dual and a pin fall against Mercyhurst Northeast.
Chrisman edged our Peter Pappas of Edinboro, 6-5, breaking the tie by earning a riding time bonus. Chrisman left little in doubt against Ashland, earning a technical fall, then earning his first pin fall of the year against Mercyhurst Northeast.
