Mally Sets the Pace Friday at Akron Invitational

AKRON, Ohio –Sophomore Jacob Mally leads in the gold division heptathlon with 2961 points following Friday's events at the Akron Invitational, topping the competition in three of the four events.
Mally set new career-best marks in all four of Friday's events and was victorious on the track with a time of 7:30 in the 60-meter dash. He also finished first in the shot put with a mark of 41'-0.25" and in the high jump, reaching 6'-7.00." Mally came in second in the long jump, leaping 21'-10.00."
Six additional Flashes grabbed top-ten finishes in Friday's session. From the women's team, sophomore Madison Dunlap was victorious in the gold division 5,000-meter with a time of 17:43.72, while senior Jaimie Adams finished seventh (18:19.83). Sophomore Christy Nell came tied for third in the pole vault blue division while Samantha Ice tied for sixth, each reaching 11'-6.50."
On the men's side, freshman Alex Stamper picked up a fourth-place finish in the 5,000-meter (14:52.07) and junior Mitchell Kubicki finished sixth in the pole vault blue division recording a mark of 15'-1.00."
Junior Trevor Detillion and sophomore Grace Tennant competed in the men's and women's gold division discus competition Thursday evening during the first session of the meet. Detillion was victorious throwing the discus 176'-4.00," while Tennant finished second in the women's competition reaching a mark of 160'-6.00."
Kent State will conclude competition at the Akron Invitational on Saturday.
