
Flashes Claim Lady Puerto Rico Challenge

RIO GRANDE, P.R.- The No. 10 Kent State University women's golf team claimed its third tournament championship of the season with a tournament total of 2-over par 866 (292-288-286) at the Lady Puerto Rico Challenge on Tuesday Afternoon. This is the also the Flashes' sixth-straight top-2 challenge.
Junior Karoline Stormo capped off her strong showing at the LPR Challenge by capturing medalist honors for the second time this season. Entering the day atop the leaderboard, Stormo bounced back after an opening bogey and fired birdies on No. 6 and No. 8 to close out the front nine at 1-under. The junior capped off the final nine holes with four birdies and completed the final round with a 3-under 69 score. Stormo shot a 54 hole total of 7-under 209.
As a team, the Flashes rounded out the final day of action with a 2-under par, 286, to close out the Lady Puerto Rico Challenge at 2-over par.
Pimnipa Panthong climbed the leaderboard in the final round as she shot a 3-under 69 for her final round. Panthong hit back-to-back birdies on two instances in the afternoon on the No. 3 and No. 4 hole, followed by the No. 11 and No. 12. She finished tied for fourth with an even-par 216 tournament total.
Thitapa Pakdeesettakul finished tied for 27th at 7-over 223. Pakdeesettak carded a final round score of 4-over 76, while Finn mirrored her second round score of even-par.
Kory Nielsen rounded out the Flashes' lineup tied for 54th with a 12-over 228 score. Nielsen carded a final round score of 7-over. Chloe Salort, who was competing as an individual placed tied for ninth at 2-over 218. Salort finished the day with an even-par score.
Kent State will return to the course on Feb.25-26 at the University of Houston Invitational at the Woodlands Country Club.
