
Wickey’s Collegiate PR Leads the Way as Kent State Concludes Opening Meet of Outdoor Season

RALEIGH, N.C. — Jake Wickey led the way for Kent State Saturday at the Raleigh Relays.
Wickey recorded a collegiate-best mark of 199'-2" to place fourth in the men's hammer throw. The Golden Flashes finished their first outdoor meet of the season with five top-seven finishes in throwing events.
Christy Nell cleared 12'-1.50" to finish eighth in the women's pole vault, while Maria Horrigan took sixth in the women's pole vault invitational with a top height of 11'-11.75".
On the track, Kent State was led by Rachel Banks. After running the 10th-fastest 1,500-meter time in program history on Friday, Banks placed ninth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:09.87, which is 0.11 seconds off her top time from last season that is 10th in the Flashes' record book.
Mi'Angel Daniels, Irene Skinner, Angelique Wong and Nicole Yeargin teamed for a second-place finish in the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:37.96.
The Golden Flashes will head to the Northeast Ohio Quad next weekend. Youngstown State will host running and jumping events on Friday, April 5 and Akron will host throwing events on Saturday, April 6.
