FAYETTEVILLE, ARK.- The second round of the 2019 NCAA Women's Golf Championships was suspended due to severe weather that moved through the area during the afternoons. The Kent State women's golf team nearly completed its round before play was halted, shooting 14-over.
The completion of the second round is planned to begin Sunday morning at 11 a.m. (ET). No team completed its second round on Saturday and 12 teams had not even teed off when play was suspended. Due to the change in the schedule, the stroke play portion of the tournament has been shortened from 72 to 54 holes, with all teams competing on Monday's third round. The top eight teams following the conclusion of the third round will advance to the match play portion of the championship, which begins Tuesday.
The Flashes are currently in 24th place.
Three Flashes completed their second round on Saturday. Senior Michaela Finn led the squad with an even-par 73. Finn started her morning with back-to-back birdies on No. 10 and 11, before combating a pair of bogeys with her third birdie of the day.
Junior Karoline Stormo posted a 2-over 75 with back-to-back birdies on her final two holes and sophomore Chloe Salort had a 6-over 79 round. Freshman Thitapa Pakdeesettakul is 10-over for her round with one hole remaining, while junior Pimnipa Panthong is 6-over with two holes to play. Both will complete their second round on Sunday morning.
